Ten individuals from Geldards law firm have teamed up to run the Derby 10k this weekend, pounding the streets of Derby in aid of the firm’s charity, Barnardo’s.
Ten colleagues, made up of legal professionals from across the business, first decided to take part in the Derby 10k earlier in the year, and have dedicated their lunch breaks to training in preparation for the race.
Taking place on Sunday, 9th April 2017, the team has made a strong start in raising money for Geldards nominated charity of the year, Barnardo’s. Alongside training, the team have already held and planned various fundraising events, making a strong start in his bid for donations.
Heather Dixon, partner at Geldards and 10k runner commented: “Earlier this year Geldards announced that our chosen charity for the year would be Barnardo's. A charity like you, I had heard of but one I didn't know too much about. That prompted me to have a look at what I now know to be the amazing work they do for vulnerable children throughout the UK. Nationally Barnardo's conducts research, lobby’s government and campaigns for changes to benefit the most vulnerable children in the U.K.
“Please dig deep and help us to raise as much money for this truly incredible charity because without your donations, the most vulnerable children will not have the support and help they need."
Taking part in Sunday’s race are; Alex Lloyd, Daniel Greatorex, Debbie Broadhurst, Heather Dixon, Richard Port, Robyn Sewell, Sarah Bailey, Sharon Lowe, Sophie Thring and Aller Dawlat.
The runners have received donations from colleagues, family and friends, and employer Geldards has paid for entry fees and kit. To pledge your support please visit their Virgin Money Giving page, here.
