The team undertakes a wide range of work for clients in the media-sector and creative industries, spanning high level strategic and regulatory advice through to advising on, drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts. The team’s ability to remain up-to-date with the constant regulatory and technological changes in this area, together with the experience team members have in advising companies across the entirety of the sector – from broadcasters, rights holders, rights creators, content aggregators, platform providers and distributors – means we are extremely well placed to provide you with commercial, practical and relevant legal advice. A crucial part of the media group is our regulatory expertise. We have specific expertise in advising on the various codes implemented and enforced by OFCOM (the broadcast regulator), ATVOD (the on-demand co-regulator) and the ASA (the advertising regulator). We also regularly advice on the UK’s Communication and Broadcasting Acts. Our media team is complimented by the firm’s IP team which specialises in providing advice (both contentious and non-contentious) in relation to patents, designs, copyright, trademarks and other forms of IP.
