Our Defendant Personal Injury team has a wealth of experience in handling : • Asbestos related diseases – mesothelioma/asbestosis/pleural thickening/lung cancer • Asthma and upper respiratory tract disorders • Noise induced hearing loss • Stress related illness • Work related upper limb disorders • Hand/arm vibration syndrome Such claims need specialist handling as they may be caused by non work related factors. They often arise from workplaces where many employees were exposed to the same hazard which gives rise to the potential for further claims and which often makes economic settlements unattractive. Our team is very experienced and adept at insurance archaeology and at handling claims involving complex insurance and apportionment issues. As well as assisting clients with individual claims, we assess the wider picture and keep our clients advised of developments and trends in occupational illness litigation. In 2008, we prepared a response to the Government’s Consultation Paper on Pleural Plaques claims on behalf of one of our large corporate clients.
