Andrew provides practical and relevant business tax advice to a broad range of clients.

As a Chartered Tax Adviser with knowledge of a large range of taxes, Andrew is able to “see the wood from the trees” in order to highlight the key tax issues in what is now the longest tax code in the world.

Andrew provides advice on corporate tax issues to companies ranging from start-ups to established, multi-million pound turnover companies. His broad range of experience allows him to consider a large number of tax areas and identify the main tax problems so that practical solutions can be found.

Andrew has advised on the implementation of major group reorganisations as well as assisting clients on the sale of their companies in order to minimise the amount of tax payable. Andrew does not believe in “tax schemes” but in ensuring that clients take proper advantage of the tax reliefs set out in the legislation.

Andrew provides key property tax advice to businesses, companies and individuals undertaking property transactions, ranging from the grant of leases to multi-million pound redevelopments involving the construction of headquarter buildings in major city centres.

Considering the VAT, Stamp Duty Land Tax and capital allowances consequences of the transaction at an early stage is vital in order to try and minimise the tax exposure. Slight variations in the deal structure can have widely differing tax consequences.

Andrew is one of three tax experts on the Tax Advisory Group which provides advice and guidance to Welsh Government on the development and impact of devolved taxes including Land Transaction Tax (the replacement for SDLT) in Wales.

He is also able to call on his wider tax experience when advising on family succession issues when transferring a family business to the next generation and works closely with the Private Client team at Geldards to provide a broad range of tax advice to clients.

“Many thanks for your support and guidance throughout. You have been very responsive and thoroughly diligent. Impressive”
