Associate Solicitor, Rebecca Stojak, has been successful in being appointed as a governor for Derby High School, a local independent day school situated on the outskirts of Derby.
The Primary School teaches both boys and girls, whilst the Senior School became co-educational in September 2019 with boys joining Years 7 and 12. Derby High are now making the exciting move to being fully coeducational throughout the school.
Rebecca attended Derby High School from the ages of 7 – 16, spending her junior school and senior school years at Derby High, which saw her through her GCSE exams.
As a governor, Rebecca will support the Derby High staff team in their encouragement of all pupils to thrive academically and socially at each stage of their education. She will also work alongside fellow Governor and colleague and Geldards Family Partner, Fiona Apthorpe. Rebecca is the only Governor on the panel to have attended the school herself.
Rebecca qualified as a solicitor in January 2013 and joined the Commercial Dispute Resolution team of Geldards in August 2018, specialising in equine and agricultural law and a wide range of disputes, including schools and further education law, business, contracts, franchise, charity and healthcare sector disputes.
Commenting on her appointment, Rebecca, said:
“I am honoured to return to Derby High School in capacity as a Governor. It is very important to me to support and give back to my local community."
“I would like to thank Derby High School for appointing me as their governor and I look forward to offering my skills to allow the next generation at the school I grew up at to thrive.”
