Colleagues from Geldards’ Cardiff office volunteered and took part in the Byte Night Wales sleep out, sleeping outside to raise money for Action for Children which supports vulnerable and neglected children and young people living in the UK.
Byte Night Wales is a national sleep out which took place in Cardiff, as well as various other locations across the UK, on the night of Friday 4 October 2019. In Cardiff, the sleepers slept in outside the Principality Stadium.
The team from Geldards included Michael Evans, Amy-Beth Probert, Madeleine Jordan, Melissa Moran and Jazzmin Howell. They were joined by Cathryn Davey from Transport for Wales.
The sleepers sleep outside, with only sleeping bags for cover. Being in the shadow of the Principality stadium, the sleepers were exposed to the elements, particularly the wind coming up the Taff river. After a short social evening, the sleepers venture outside at about 10:45pm and have to make it through the night to 6am when they pack up and go home. The night was cold but, fortunately, the rain held off.

Commenting on the event, Michael said:
“Taking part in the sleep out is something myself and some of the team have done before. Although the event itself is good fun because it is a bit of a social evening, you are very much aware of why you are sleeping outside – so disadvantaged and vulnerable young people don’t have to. I am proud of the whole team for volunteering to sleep out in the cold to raise money or such a good cause. Any donations you can give for the charity are greatly appreciated.”
