We had hoped that 2021 would see the return of face to face PowerHours. Unfortunately, for the time being at least, that isn’t possible so we going to run our first HR PowerHour of the year as an interactive virtual session.
We’ll be looking at the topic of exiting employees. We’re aware that many organisations are facing difficult decisions about reducing employment costs, particularly with the uncertainty regarding the future of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme after April. This will inevitably result in considerations around reducing staff headcount and the potential need to exit employees.
The formal processes for redundancies are likely to be familiar to you so in this session we’re going to explore alternative ways to exit employees. We will focus on:
- How to have a protected conversation, ensuring that it remains off the record and achieves the result you want.
- The process of formalising the deal and creating a binding agreement.
- The considerations you need to have when agreeing a deal and deciding on which settlement mechanism to use; and
- Important pointers when drafting a settlement agreement.
This session will include a mock protected conversation 'acted out' by the team, showing you the important dos and don’ts when engaging in a protected conversation with an employee.
Our PowerHours have always been interactive, with the input from the attendees being as valuable as our contributions, our aim is to continue that during our virtual sessions by facilitating discussion about the issues that challenge you most.
We look forward to seeing you.
