Liz has worked in local government or provided legal advice to local government for 20 years. She has worked in every tier of local government from unitary, county, district and most recently at Town/Parish Council level.

Liz was born and bred in Derbyshire and studied Law and Politics BA (hons) at Wolverhampton University before completing the Legal Practice course in Nottingham.

Liz started her legal career in a family law practice in Nottingham – specialising in domestic violence work – before moving to Nottingham City Council to specialise in housing and anti-social behaviour work. After a period at Cobbetts LLP in Birmingham providing legal support to local authorities and RSLs, Liz returned to local government, working at both Gedling Borough Council and Derbyshire County Councils. Liz then led a large team of lawyers as Senior Solicitor at Mansfield District Council/Ashfield District Council. Recently Liz has been the Clerk at both Duffield Parish Council and Belper Town Council.
