Natalie Haydon-Yeung, associate solicitor in the family team, was awarded Junior Lawyer of the Year at this years’ Derby and District Law Society Annual Awards, on 26th April 2019.
The award was judged by an experienced panel of judges, comprising of leading figures from law and academia. The Judges commented that the standard of entry was incredibly high and there were a lot of nominations, so it is an honour for Natalie to win such a prestigious award.
Natalie’s submission for the award was based on a variety of factors, including legal, anthropological and business development. The submission for the award highlighted her standards of work, her dedication to her role as a Family solicitor, the complex cases she deals with daily as well as client feedback and testimonials.
The support she offers to the family team and her organisation of work experience placements were also factors, together with the pro bono and charity work Natalie undertakes outside of the office. Natalie works with under-represented law students at the University of Nottingham, for which she won an award.
Natalie also holds a teaching role at the University of Derby for Legal Practice Course students, which she undertakes at weekends. Her commitment to marketing and business development has also played a huge part in the consideration, including being one of the driving forces behind the creation of a new young professionals networking group inTOUCH Midlands.
