Leading East Midlands law firm Geldards are celebrating the arrival of two new Partners into the Midlands based Corporate and Commercial department. The additions take the number in the team up to 21 lawyers, one of the largest in the region. The new Partners, Jamie Goldberg and Peter Seary, bring with them expertise and experience that will both enhance and expand the capabilities of the department.
Jamie Goldberg has joined the firm’s Derby office as a Commercial Partner, having previously been a Partner at a London-based sport, media and entertainment specialist law firm, Onside Law. His expertise covers commercial contracts, private M&A, sports governance and regulation. Jamie’s recent work highlights include representing a gold medal-winning Olympian and a tennis player in the top 5 world rankings, negotiating, hosting and staging agreements relating to the 2019 Cricket World Cup and advising the charity responsible for organising Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations. As well as providing commercial support for the firm’s clients in the region, he will boost the Sports sector team at the firm who act for a range of high profile clubs and sports organisations in the region and nationally.
Peter Seary has joined the Nottingham office as a Corporate Partner. His previous experience includes being a Corporate Partner at Shoosmiths in Nottingham where for several years he was head of the Midlands based Corporate and Commercial team, and Corporate Partner and co-head of the food sector at Roythornes. Peter will lead Geldards’ food sector team. He has a wealth of experience in corporate finance, M&A (often with cross border aspects), corporate law and governance and has also advised on many large UK due diligence projects for overseas clients and advisers. Peter has worked in a variety of industries, notably, the food and drink, manufacturing and pharmacy sectors.
Jamie and Peter join off the back of a very busy and successful year for the team. Geldards was ranked a tier one law firm for Corporate and Commercial law in the Midlands by this year’s Legal 500, and four Partners and a Consultant were named as recommended lawyers, Debra Martin, Jenny Chatten, Michelle Craven-Faulkner, Paul Feenan and David Tilly.
