PAUL SOUTHBY



Paul is an experienced and practical commercial dispute resolution lawyer, specialising in contractual disputes, substantial money claims, complex financial litigation, company disputes, and product liability and engineering disputes.  He provides advice to a wide range of business types from major international corporations to small and medium size businesses, public authorities and charities.

Paul’s working style is pragmatic, inclusive and open, with a focus on achieving his clients’ desired outcomes from litigation and dispute management. Clients usually regarded him as part of their team.

He is a graduate of the University of Sheffield, and joined Geldards in 2012, having previously worked in London and as a partner for several international and national law firms. Paul spent a few years outside the profession between 2008 and 2010, working as regional director for the CBI in the East Midlands.

Paul is chair of Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Limited (Marketing NG), the local place marketing organisation which manages the local inward investment and visitor economy agencies, and facilitates business support for both. He is also chair of Broadway arts cinema in Nottingham, a director of Nottingham Playhouse Trust Company, and a trustee of environmental charity Clean Rivers Trust.

Paul is a keen cyclist and works hard to cement the reputation of cycling as “the new golf”.
