The legislation to implement the £95k cap on exit payments in the public sector came into force on 4 November 2020. Despite being in the offing for several years, the proposed cap is now causing considerable controversy, not least because necessary changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme rules to accommodate the cap have not yet been implemented.
Significant concerns have been raised in relation to the implementation of the cap by organisations such as the LGA and the legislation is already the subject of judicial review actions by Trade Unions.
In this webinar we’ll take you through the detail of the legislation, any guidance in relation to its implementation and circumstances where exceptions to the cap may be permissible.
We’ll also cover the proposed changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme rules and the issues public sector employers may face in view of the fact that these changes have not been made and the cap is now in force.
