  • Professional Rugby Club: We have been engaged to advise on the capitalisation of certain director loans and also on options for the raising of funds moving forwards for a professional rugby club.
  • Employee Benefit Trusts: Drafting bespoke documentation for a firm of financial advisers for use by their professional sports clients.
  • Notts County Football in the Community: Advising on the acquisition of a leisure centre to promote its charitable objectives.
  • Employment Advice: to several sporting governing bodies in relation to investigatory and disciplinary matters relating to staff and officers.
  • Breach of Contract: Advice to a professional rugby club relating to the dismissal of a management team member for breach of contract and relating to the termination of playing contracts due to long term injury.
  • Sexual Harassment: The provision of advice to a sporting charitable organisation in relation to the investigation of allegations of sexual harassment against its director, together with the subsequent disciplinary hearing and appeal against dismissal.
  • Disciplinary Advice: Successfully acting for Cardiff Rugby Football Club Limited and an individual player in relation to a disciplinary hearing following the citing of the player for dangerous play.
  • Relegation from Premiership Football: Employment advice to a Football Manager and his backroom staff on their exit from a Premiership Football Club.
  • British Boxing Board of Control: Advising in an action in the Scottish Courts against a former British Supermiddleweight Champion, for recovery of the Londsdale Championship, belt which was not returned following the Championship being vacated.
  • National sporting body: advised regarding event sponsorship, brand endorsement and product manufacturing arrangements with a multi-national sportswear manufacturer and supplier relating to a series of events being hosted by our client and broadcast nationally and internationally through various media channels.
  • The Hull City Association Football Club (Tigers) Limited: The Team successfully represented Adam Pearson in resolving a substantial dispute with Hull City Football Club arising out of the alleged wrongful termination of Mr Pearson’s Consultancy.
  • Warranty Claim: The team successfully represented a high profile sports personality and club owner in his warranty and indemnity claim against the previous owners of the Club.
  • Cardiff Rugby Football Club Limited: We advised Cardiff Blues in relation to various matters including the move to Cardiff City Stadium in 2008 and return to Cardiff Arms Park in 2012, legal proceedings against David (Dai) Young and London Wasps (Wasps) following the high profile resignation of Mr. Young as Director of Rugby at the Blues in order to join Wasps, equity fund raising, the recovery of sums due under a sponsorship agreement and a dispute connected with the image rights of a former player.
  • British Boxing Board of Control Limited: Providing IP advice including in relation to acts of passing off arising out of the sale of replica Lonsdale Belts via the internet; acts of passing off arising out of the use of images of the Lonsdale Belt on T-shirts, and successfully concluding a licensing deal with the vendor; and advising the Board in connection with the registration of its trade marks generally.
  • Engagesport LLP: Representation agreements for diverse range of sports personality clients.
  • Engagesport LLP: Event services agreement with the Welsh Football Trust
  • Engagesport LLP: Data protection advice in respect of personal data held by it in respect of its clients.
  • Competition Advice: Representing a football club accused by the OFT of abusing its dominant position in relation to the marketing of its replica kit.
  • Subject Access Requests: Advised our client in reaching a successful conclusion following a highly sensitive subject access request made by an employee facing disciplinary action. We assisted the client in understanding and applying the relevant exemptions available to it under the Data Protection Act, including reviewing the relevant documentation.
  • Breach of Data Protection: Assisted our client to reach a successful conclusion over a claim for compensation for breach of the Data Protection requirements arising from the use of an employee's photograph in documentation intended to publicise services.
  • Manchester City Ticketing System: We drafted the template agreement (with modular features) which our client uses in their business generally, as well as to draft and negotiate a bespoke version for their client Manchester City Football Club.
  • Outsourcing Agreement: advising a League football club in an agreement for the outsourcing of the catering operations at its stadium.
  • Sponsorship Agreements: advising on commercial sponsorship arrangements for a League football club.
  • Sponsorship Agreement: acting for a Premier League football club in the drafting and negotiation of a long term agreement for the sponsorship of its stadium.
  • Sponsorship Agreement: advising a major national retailer in relation to a sponsorship agreement for the Football League Championship.
  • Sponsorship Agreement: drafting an agreement for the sponsorship of a high profile professional darts player.
  • Trade Mark Infringement: Advising an extreme sports company in connection with trade mark infringement proceedings threatened against them by a TV show.
  • 2018 World Cup: advising a Local Authority on the contractual arrangements for the granting by FIFA of Host City status in connection with the FA's application to stage the 2018 World Cup.
  • Participation Agreement: drafting and advising the Welsh Professional Regional Rugby Clubs on the Participation Agreement governing their relationship with the WRU, covering matters such as Academies, player release for international games, Intellectual Property, medical issues, TV rights, squad regulations, overseas players and payments.
  • Media Contracts: drafting and advising on a representation agreement relating to the endorsement by an England footballer and his wife of a subscription TV channel.
  • FA Agreements: advising a professional football agent on his application for a licence from the FA and the drafting of a template Player Representation Agreement.
  • Sports Management: drafting and advising on the terms of a contract between a client offering a sports management service and a Championship football manager endorsing the website.
  • National sporting body: advised a based creative design agency in relation to a brand licensing deal with a national sporting body concerning the use of that body’s trade marks on the design agency’s innovative figurine merchandise.
  • FAW Football in the Community: We act for our client generally including advising in connection with the new National Football Centre (Dragon Park) in Newport including involvement in the Joint Venture company with Football Association of Wales; the subleases of the site; the funding agreements; maintenance agreements; and setting up trading subsidiary.
