Patients who have received faulty hip replacements can make a claim for compensation under the Consumer Protection Act.

The recall of the ASR XL Acetabular Hip System and DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System means patients may need additional monitoring and testing. Significantly, data from the manufacturer also suggests that five years after implantation, approximately 12% of patients who have received the ASR Resurfacing device and 13% of patients who had received the ASR Total Hip Replacement needed to have corrective surgery.

As a result, anyone who is concerned that they have had one of the recalled products, or has suffered pain or other symptoms as a result of hip surgery, should contact a member of the Medical Negligence Team.
