Fraud and Scam Warning
Protecting You from Fraudulent Activity
It has come to our attention that the names and details of genuine Geldards solicitors have been used fraudulently by individuals and organisations attempting to impersonate our firm on third-party websites and online platforms (including “freelance” marketplaces such as Fiverr).
These fraudulent sites and profiles are not connected with Geldards LLP or any of our staff. We take such matters very seriously and work with the relevant authorities to have them removed.
Be Alert to Scams and Impersonation
Criminals may attempt to mislead clients and members of the public by:
- Creating fake websites or social media pages that resemble our own.
- Sending emails, text messages or letters that appear to come from Geldards or our solicitors.
- Using look-alike domains or email addresses, such as slight misspellings or variations of “geldards.com”.
- Requesting confidential information or payment details.
Please be cautious of any unsolicited communication claiming to be from Geldards, especially if it involves:
- Requests to transfer money or amend payment details;
- Unexpected attachments or links;
- Pressure to act urgently.
How to Verify Authentic Communications
To confirm whether a communication is genuine:
1. Check the sender’s email address ends in “@geldards.com”.
2. Do not rely solely on email if you receive unexpected payment instructions — instead, telephone your known Geldards contact using the number published on our official website (www.geldards.com).
3. If in doubt, contact our Risk & Compliance team immediately at information.compliance@geldards.com before responding.
Our Policy
- Geldards will never notify clients of changes to our bank account details by email only.
- We do not authorise or advertise legal services through freelance or gig-work websites such as Fiverr, Upwork, or similar platforms.
- We regularly monitor for misuse of our brand and staff details and report fraudulent activity to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and Action Fraud.
