Are you a World Cup Widow?

Are you tired of being ignored? Is your partner currently glued to the TV and disengaged from your relationship? Are they at the pub most evenings watching the match? Are they constantly talking about Bellingham, Kane and Pickford? Are you tired of endless football? Fed up of constant post match replays and analysis? Even worse, are they currently in the States spending the hard earned family savings?

Are you a “Football Widow”?

Whether or not it’s coming home, when the Nation’s euphoria ends, are your understandable feelings of isolation and loneliness likely to continue? Is this the final straw in your relationship; whether you are married, in a civil partnership or cohabiting?

If you are married, there is one ground for divorce, which is that the marriage has irretrievably broken down. Since 2022 it is no longer necessary to establish blame, so your partner’s behaviour, however unreasonable, is not in itself a ground for divorce.

In most cases, the reason for the breakdown of the marriage also has no impact on how assets are divided unless the behaviour has serious financial implications, which it conceivably could if your partner has just deliberately frittered away thousands on a trip to the US for the Final when the mortgage is in arrears and the electric bill is unpaid.

Geldards’ Family Team specialises in assisting those going through a relationship breakdown of any sort and we can offer support and help you to navigate the legal minefield to ensure that you get the result that you deserve.

And PS: Good Luck to the England Team!
