Geldards partnership with St. Athan Primary School helps pupils develop business skills

Pupils at St. Athan Primary School in the Vale of Glamorgan will soon benefit from some hands-on mentoring thanks to the team at Geldards.

Participating in the 2B Enterprising partnership, Geldards staff will work closely with the school to deliver workshops to help pupils learn about the world of work and engage them in practical tasks to ignite their interest in entrepreneurship.

The Bumbles of Honeywood programme, devised by educational specialists at the 2B Enterprising partnership, is designed to inspire the next generation of enterprising citizens by pairing businesses with local schools. Funding support by businesses enables pupils to access a bespoke range of educational resources including books and lesson plans which go hand in hand with practical visits by local businesses to encourage children to learn about enterprise in the classroom in an engaging and fun way.

Geldards will be working with classes at St. Athan over the next year, helping pupils to understand more about business and enterprise through the Bumble Family characters featured in the storybooks. As well as sharing valuable insights from the legal world, the Geldards team will develop a lasting relationship with the school and its pupils, supporting them with discussions around work and industry and introducing the skills that children need to think about in the future

Geldards is the latest business to sign up to the educational partnership, joining industry leading companies including Swansea.com, Sony, Redrow, and National Grid.

Jayne Brewer, Chief Executive of 2B Enterprising said: “We are thrilled to welcome Geldards to our 2B Enterprising family.

“The Bumbles of Honeywood programme is such a fantastic way to teach young people about the benefits of enterprise and entrepreneurial education and we’d like to thank them for their support. Thanks to the support of businesses like Geldards hundreds of pupils are now partnered with schools across England and Wales, with pupils and businesses alike seeing the benefits of this unique programme.  We are now calling on even more businesses to get involved and support a school in their local area to help us to inspire our future business leaders.”

Helen Snow, Partner & Head of Public Sector Wales said:

“Geldards is delighted to support the 2B Enterprising partnership Bumbles of Honeywood programme. We are thrilled to be working with the teachers and pupils at St. Athan Primary School and can’t wait to start working with our Year 2 class. We are committed to supporting local communities and this is a wonderful  opportunity for the Geldards team to work closely with a local school, sharing some real-world experience and nurturing the children’s ambitions – perhaps inspiring some future lawyers!”
