Midlands Employment Events 2021 Save the Dates

Derby Office Icon

We are pleased to present our Employment events programme for 2021.  As this “new normal” will be with us for the foreseeable future, we have embraced the flexibility of running our events virtually.

Our events will mostly take place on the 4th Tuesday in each month at 9.30am, with the exception of dates during the school holidays.

As in previous years, our programme is made up of a mixture of formal and informal presentations and interactive HR Power Hours.  We will be pushing the boundaries of technology so you can get the most out of our sessions from your home desk/kitchen table!

Formal Events - We have three sessions in February, May and October led by one of our senior employment solicitors. They will take an in-depth look at the topic and take questions using the chat function.  A link to the recorded presentation and slides will be available after the session.

HR Power Hours - The remainder of our programme is made up of our infamous HR Power Hours where we facilitate group discussions, networking and profile building, in our solicitor-led discussions.

Join us as we develop the world of virtual sessions into something much more interactive, to enable you to get the most out of each session.

Power hour : Managing workplace disputes
Tuesday 22nd June 9.30am

Whilst you may have experience of dealing with 'run of the mill' disciplinary matters, it starts to get a bit more complex when there is no misconduct as such, just an inexplicable dispute.  We share how to get around roadblocks such as non-cooperative employees, employees working from home and employees who go off sick.

Power hour : Discrimination at work
Tuesday 21st September 9.30am

This area of law is vast and moves incredibly quickly and it’s important to keep up to date.  Don’t expect to be bored with legalese - in this session you will work in groups on case studies to pick out potential discrimination, learn how to deal with it and how to prevent it from happening in the first place.

Annual Employment Law Update Event

Power Hour : Topic TBC
Tuesday 23rd November 9.30am

We like to leave at least one Power Hour open on topic, to be determined closer to the time to ensure that we are keeping up to date and relevant for you.  Details will follow.

Power Hour/Christmas Social
Tuesday 14th December 9.30am
Whether we talk shop, have an open session for questions, or even actually get together with a cuppa, or something stronger, we will have a session to kick off the festive period.  Details will follow.
