Aysha is a Partner specialist solicitor with over 12 years’ experience in Family Law and is the Head of Faith and Cultural Family Law at Geldards. Based in the Cardiff office, Aysha has a national role with many clients based in England and overseas.
Aysha has specialist experience in all areas of Family Law and provides holistic advice (including complex children matters, matrimonial finances, intervener disputes and TLATA/cohabitee cases) and is also able to offer clients advice regarding religious (specifically Shariah Law/Islamic Rulings), cultural and international issues. She is one of the very few family Lawyers nationally who specialise in this and has built up a strong relationship and reputation representing South Asian and International clients. Aysha has a network of professionals that she works alongside in other jurisdictions.
Aysha is multilingual and can speak several languages including Urdu, Mirpuri/Pothwari, Punjabi and Hindi which can help overcome any barriers with some clients.
Aysha is a committee member of the National EDI and South Wales Resolution Committees.
Aysha is a Council Member for the Cardiff & District Law Society. Aysha is also the Chair and Mentoring Coordinator for the Cardiff & District Law Society’s Ethnicity Network.
Aysha regularly features in the Wales Online’s Young Lawyers to watch list and has been included in the “35 under 35 top young business and professional women in Wales” list. She was a Finalist and Winner of the Rising Star Award in the Welsh Women’s Awards 2022 and a Finalist for the Civil Lawyer of the Year Award at the Asian Legal Awards 2022. Further, Aysha was Highly Commended in the prestigious Women & Diversity in Law awards 2023 (Rising Star), she was a Finalist in the British Family Law Awards 2024 (Family Lawyer of the Year) and won Family Law Associate Solicitor of the Year at the LexisNexis Family Law Awards 2024. More recently, Aysha has been nominated in the Women’s Business Awards 2024.
In addition, Aysha has been ranked in Chambers and Partners as an “Associate to Watch” for Family Law in Wales and as a “Key Lawyer” and “Leading Associate” in the Legal 500. She has also been named as a top Family Lawyer in Cardiff by Wiselaw.
