We provide pensions advice to our clients as part of the services offered by our Employment Team, enabling us to provide a holistic service which takes account of the underlying position of pensions as an employment benefit.
The team provides advice on the full range of pensions issues to both companies and trustees. This ranges from the preparation and revision of scheme documents, through advice on the interpretation and application of scheme rules, to funding negotiations, including clearance applications, and on to mergers and winding-ups.
We have advised on the pensions aspects of numerous corporate transactions, advised companies and trustees on the preparation of, and amendment of, scheme deeds and rules and supporting documentation, the application and interpretation of rules, and negotiations between companies and trustees in relation to scheme changes and funding.
We have also appeared before the Pensions Ombudsman and advised on the pursuit of High Court appeals from Ombudsman decisions. We have provided training to trustees on pensions issues and have trained employment judges on decisions involving pension compensation.
