Charity Law specialist Bethan Walsh promoted to Partner

Bethan Walsh, an experienced solicitor and Head of Geldards’ Charities and Third Sector team, has been promoted to Partner in the firms’ new years round of promotions.

Bethan leads a team of specialist lawyers providing expert advice to some of the UK’s leading charitable organisations. Geldards’ Charity team provides core charity law expertise, advising charities and third sector organisations on governance as well as commercial matters. Under her leadership, the team is widely recognised as a leading advisor to charities in Wales and is accredited by Legal 500 as the only top-ranking (Tier 1) Charities and Not for Profit team in Wales.

An established specialist in Charity Law, Bethan is well-versed in charity governance, formations, mergers and trading matters. She works closely with a wide range of not-for-profit organisations both small and large, advising across a range of diverse industry sectors including faith based, arts and culture, sports, health, animal welfare and educational charities.

Bethan is a fluent Welsh speaker, often advising local charities on governance and contractual issues in Welsh. She plays an active role in supporting the third sector, including by way of delivering training at events, such as Gofod3, and participating in the Charity Law Association working parties. As a charity trustee herself, Bethan has a strong understanding of the issues facing charities in the real world and regularly shares her experience and knowledge through articles and seminars.

Bethan is recognised by Legal 500 as a ‘Leading Associate’ and Chambers & Partners as an ‘Associate to Watch’. She regularly advises local authorities and other public sector bodies on issues of charity law. She has acted on behalf of some high profile national and regional organisations including Presbyterian Church of Wales, Wales Air Ambulance Charitable Trust (WAACT), National Museum of Wales Trust for Welsh Archaeology (Heneb) and Wales Council For Voluntary Action.
