Geldards To Increase Employee Ownership Of Welsh Businesses

Geldards’ Cardiff-based Corporate team have joined the Think Employee Ownership initiative in Wales, which aims to increase the numbers of businesses that utilise employee ownership as a business succession model. The initiative is being supported by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Cardiff & District Law Society.

The campaign is being delivered by Social Business Wales, to raise awareness of using employee ownership as a business succession model and the important role professional advisers can play in informing businesses on the various aspects of employee ownership.

An event will be held in Cardiff in September, where professional advisers will be helping businesses and other advisers to better understand employee ownership as a business succession model, including Geldards Partner, Andrew Evans. Andrew is a specialist in this area, having already advised various clients to employ this method, including one of Wales’ most successful independent TV companies, Cwmni Da and Cardiff-based planning consultancy, The Urbanists.

The informative event will take place at Tramshed Tech on Wednesday 26 September, from 8:00am – 10:00am, tickets are free and you can register here

Commenting on the initiative, Andrew, said:

“This campaign is an important step for welsh businesses and raising awareness of using employee ownership as a business successional model and how professional firms can assist with it, is a great step towards changing how businesses think about their succession planning.”

“I look forward to speaking at the event in September and hope it will help business owners to see the value in changing the way they sell their business.”

Think Employee Ownership project is being delivered by Social Business Wales and is funded by Welsh Government and the European Regional Development Fund.
