Geldards 'Top Of Its Game’ In Latest Directory Rankings
National law firm Geldards LLP has, once again, been recognised as a leading law firm in the latest Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners directory rankings. The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners both release annual guides to UK law firms.
In the Legal 500 rankings, Geldards has been recognised across a staggering 31 specialisms and practice areas nationwide, 74% of these being named first or second tier advisers.
Notable recognition includes the firm’s ‘responsive and solutions-oriented’ corporate and commercial team, which has maintained its tier 1 status across the country. As ‘one of the top commercial litigation outfits in the country’, the Geldards team maintained their tier 1 status in Nottingham & Derby and raised their Welsh tier from tier 2 to the top. The property litigation team, who ‘combine legal expertise with practical realism’ created two other nationally recognised tier 1 teams for the firm, with both the Midlands and Cardiff based teams being ranked tier 1.
Geldards’ services for individuals teams also ranked as leading practitioners. The family team are named as ‘one of the best in the Midlands’ and, since expanding into Wales in 2016, is ‘really stealing a march on some larger and more established firms in Cardiff’. The personal tax, trusts and probate teams were also ranked highly in the 2018 High Net Worth Guide released earlier this year.
The release of the Legal 500 2018 has also given high profile recognition to a record number of 19 of the firm’s lawyers who have been named as ‘Leading Individuals’ in their field, with a further 6 named as ‘Next Generation Lawyers’.
In the Chambers & Partners rankings, the firm has been recognised in 18 practice areas, an impressive 89% of these are bands 1 and 2.
The real estate team have been recognised nationally as leading practitioners. The Welsh based team were described by a client as being ‘invaluable to our business’ and when asked about the team, a Midlands based client said ‘it doesn’t matter which high-flying London firm is on the other side, they can more than hold their own and we know we’re getting the best advice of anyone’.
The band 1 intellectual property team were described as bring ‘prompt, approachable’ and giving ‘commercially-focused advice’, and the band 1 planning team were described as working ‘to very high standards’ and their advice being ‘always reliable’.
To round off a hugely successful directory ranking announcement from the firm, 40 of its national lawyers were named as ‘Ranked Lawyers’, with 68% being band 1 or 2, and 4 were named as ‘Associates to Watch’.
