The Public Office (Accountability) Bill, widely referred to as the “Hillsborough Law,” was introduced in the House of Commons last year with the aim of strengthening accountability and standards for public authorities and officials.
The Bill would introduce a number of new requirements for public authorities, including a duty of candour and assistance, a framework to promote ethical conduct, statutory offences, and a “parity of representation.”
In this webinar, we will outline the key requirements proposed by the Public Office (Accountability) Bill and consider the potential implications for public authorities. In particular, we will explore the proposed duty of candour and assistance, as well as the obligation on public authorities to promote and maintain high standards of ethical conduct.
